Can you tell me the 5 secrets of successful businesses?
No. You'll find no marketing gimmicks or self promotion here.
There's enough places to read and post such "advice" around the web.

You’re going through what other founders have likely went through.
You went through what other founders are likely going through. Share your struggles and help others overcome theirs.
There's plenty of resources helping founders with the operational side of the business. Solocity focuses on the psychological well-being and mentality of the founders.
Community members are vetted so you know that you are getting advice from fellow solo founders, while still giving you the option to discuss anonymously.
Questions you might have
I’m Dan Rosenshain. Solo founder of BestHosting Network which is currently my only source of income (4 figures MRR). I came up with Solocity because of the constant struggles I have while working on it. I hope one day this can become a community run platform.
This is not a product. This is not an MVP. We need a certain amount of qualified members to start having helpful discussions around this complex subject. Once I feel we've reached that amount the discussion platform will be up. I'm aiming for 50 members initially but I think even less would be enough.
At the moment, Solocity is intended for solo founders of any business type whose business is generating a minimum of $1,000 MRR. This is just a ballpark figure I came up with so expect it to change in the future.
Invited people will be required to send proof of revenue and ownership of the business, probably in the form financial summary and domain email verification.
I don’t condone unnecessary sharing of information. But I need to make sure the community is built around around shared experiences of the members. This is the only way I can think of to achieve this. The information above will be used solely for the approval process, after which it will be deleted by default, unless you want to put it in your profile.
You'll be able to keep the identity of your business and yourself anonymous. Some information about the business will be available for other members to show qualifications. Being open about who you are and what business you are running can help.
The real question is what do they have to gain from gaming it it? Nothing much, so I’m not worried.
I’m applying for free Twist Unlimited for the Solocity community. If unsuccessful I will set up a forum (suggestions welcome). In the future I plan to perform live stream interviews.
0 as in Nada. This may change in the future to cover operating costs.
I don’t think I want to make money off of people’s mental health. That would also create a conflict of interest (a-la dating apps) where if we help people overcome their issues we will lose revenue. If at one point I think it’s appropriate to generate revenue, either to cover costs or to be able to focus on improving the community, it will probably be in the form of sponsorships and/or donations. We will NEVER have targeted ads.
NO. You should almost never turn off your ad blockers. Always protect your privacy.
Like the idea? Have something to say?
